The KeyRinger isn't the only key finding device on the market today, but it is the best.
There are numerous key finders available that respond to a whistle or hand clap. These key finders are very inexpensive; however, they constantly false alarm and operate only over very short distances.
In addition to the whistle and clap variety, there are products available that call each other in a similar fashion to the KeyRinger and others that require the use of a base station. These key finders do work pretty much as advertised, and it is worthwhile to compare the KeyRinger to a couple of the popular competing products.
A locating device is useful only if you can hear it responding. If it is in a distant room, inside a drawer, or stuck between the cushions of the sofa; you may not be able to hear it. In the three protographs below, Brand X, Brand Y, and the KeyRinger are individually called and the peak sound levels are measured1. As can be seen, the KeyRinger is clearly the loudest at 106 decibels.
